Hn Oral Cam is engineered as a privacy-first, on-device utility for dental practitioners and clinicians. We prioritize the confidentiality of patient examinations and intraoral captures:
Introduction
Welcome to Hn Oral Cam, an Android application developed by HN Dental Innovations (“we,” “our,” or “us”). This Privacy Policy explains our practices regarding data handling, permissions, and media storage when you use our mobile and Android TV application.
HN Dental Innovations is committed to respecting the privacy of healthcare professionals, clinic personnel, and patients. Hn Oral Cam functions as a specialized intraoral camera monitoring, diagnostic, and reporting tool designed to connect locally to compatible Wi-Fi-enabled intraoral camera hardware.
By installing or using Hn Oral Cam, you acknowledge the terms of this Privacy Policy.
Information We Collect
We believe that medical diagnostic tools should collect only what is strictly necessary for their core utility. Based directly on our application architecture:
- Personal User Identification: We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, postal addresses, or user profile information. The app does not maintain user accounts or require login.
- Device Identifiers & Advertising IDs: We do not collect or track Android Advertising IDs, IMEI numbers, MAC addresses, or unique hardware identifiers.
- IP Addresses & Network Data: The application queries your local Wi-Fi router gateway IP (typically
192.168.1.1) purely to discover and open local communication with the intraoral camera wand. We do not log, harvest, or transmit your public IP address. - Voluntary Clinical Report Data: When generating a PDF clinical examination report, the clinician may optionally enter a Patient Name, Patient ID / Chart Number, Examiner Name, and Clinical Findings. This text is processed exclusively in temporary device memory to render the PDF file onto local storage and is never stored in a database or sent to any remote server.
- Analytical & Usage Data: We do not gather telemetry, session analytics, usage metrics, or screen tracking data.
Camera and Image Data
Because Hn Oral Cam is built for dental examination and visual diagnostics, the handling of visual media is central to its operation:
- Video Streaming: Live intraoral video frames are transmitted from your Wi-Fi camera probe directly to the mobile device over a local, peer-to-peer Wi-Fi connection (using local UDP and RTSP protocols). This video stream exists in volatile device memory and is never routed over the public internet.
- Still Captures: When the user taps the snapshot shutter or triggers the physical wand button, the current video frame is saved as a JPEG image (e.g.,
HN_PHOTO_*.jpg) directly into the device's local storage directory atPictures/HNOralCam. - Video Recordings: When recording is enabled, incoming frames are encoded into an MP4 video file (e.g.,
HN_REC_*.mp4) using Android's built-in hardware media encoders and stored locally inPictures/HNOralCam. - Clinical Annotations & Watermarks: Clinicians can annotate captures with drawings or apply tooth condition tags (such as Quadrant, Tooth Number, and Condition). These modifications are rendered directly onto the local image file (e.g.,
HN_ANNO_*.jpg). - No Cloud Storage: Images and videos are never uploaded to a remote cloud, external server, or third-party storage provider. All media remains on the physical device.
- No Artificial Intelligence (AI) Processing: The application does not apply automated AI diagnostics, automated facial recognition, or cloud machine learning algorithms to your intraoral imagery.
How We Use Information
Any data processed within Hn Oral Cam is used exclusively to facilitate local clinical functionality:
- To render real-time, low-latency intraoral video feeds on your phone, tablet, or Android TV.
- To capture high-resolution dental stills and record clinical procedure videos at the user's explicit command.
- To overlay anatomical reference marks and tooth location tags on clinical captures.
- To compile selected intraoral photos into standardized clinical examination PDF reports (A4 format).
- To save connection settings (such as local camera IP address and streaming port) within local SharedPreferences for seamless reconnection to your hardware.
How We Share Information
We do not sell, rent, monetize, or transmit your personal or clinical data to any third party.
The only manner in which data leaves the application is through explicit, user-initiated actions using Android's native system share sheet (such as emailing a PDF report or sharing a captured image via messaging apps). When you initiate a share:
- The media is shared via Android's secure
FileProviderwith temporary, read-only permissions granted solely to the specific destination app you select. - HN Dental Innovations has no control over or access to third-party applications you choose to share your files with. Clinicians should ensure that any external sharing complies with applicable patient confidentiality guidelines and professional regulations.
Data Storage and Retention
All media files created by Hn Oral Cam (including JPEG photographs, MP4 video recordings, annotated images, and generated PDF reports) are stored in the device's public media folder:
Pictures/HNOralCam/
Data Retention Policy
- Indefinite Local Storage: Files remain on your physical device until you manually choose to delete them.
- No Automatic Remote Purge: Because HN Dental Innovations does not operate an external server or database for this app, there is no remote database retention period or server-side expiration.
- Backup: If your Android device has system-level cloud backups enabled (e.g., Google Photos or Google Drive Backup), files stored in the device's Pictures folder may be backed up in accordance with your personal device settings.
Device Permissions
